VIDEO: Active Recovery Following Climb

Went out for an 11.4 km ride today. This was one of my shortest tides of the year. To be honest, I was nervous about even attempting it since I can barely walk up and down stairs following a Wednesday climb up Mt Katahdin in Baxter State Park, Maine. The ride went fairly well and was an important part of recovering.

If anyone’s interested in our climb, I’ve posted a 5 minute video which features the highlights. Make sure you turn up the volume. The soundtrack is called “Follow the Road” by Josh Woodward. Click on the image below to watch video>>>

Too sore to cycle!

If you’ve been following our progress towards our goal of 2,000 km, you might have noticed that my odometer reading hasn’t changed in a few days. This is sad because we are so close.

Towards the middle of last week we started “tapering” in preparation for climbing Mt. Katahdin, Baxter State Park, Maine on Saturday August 24th. We wanted to have fresh legs. The climb was amazing. The weather was perfect. Since the climb we’ve been suffering from severe DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) in our thighs and calves. Makes it very difficult to navigate stairs let alone ride a bike.

It’s Wednesday and the legs are feeling much stronger. The weather forecast is really shaping up for the weekend. Will we reach 2,000 km by Labour Day? Stay tuned to find out…
